Tough, long-lived, and forgiving. A well-maintained cast-iron boiler can last 30+ years. Heavy and slower to respond than newer designs, but a workhorse for many Long Island basements.
High-Efficiency Condensing Boilers

Heat Pump Boilers: Air-to-Water Heat Pumps for Long Island Homes
A heat pump boiler, also called an air-to-water heat pump, does the same job as a traditional boiler without burning gas or oil. An outdoor unit pulls heat from the air, even in freezing weather, and transfers it into water. That heated water then runs through your existing baseboard, radiators, radiant floor, or fan coils, just like water from a conventional boiler.
Because a heat pump moves heat instead of creating it through combustion, it can deliver two to three units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That's a fundamentally different math than even the best 95%+ AFUE condensing boiler, and it's why New York State is pushing hard toward heat pump heating.
